as “Mound Valley Flagpole Festival”

In the fall of 2004, a group of us had been talking about the past Mound Valley Homecomings. We all wanted our children to grow up with those Mound Valley memories like we did.  So we decided to plunge in and see what we could get done. I think we all had an idea of what we were getting ready to get into, but the realization of how much leg work and time was needed for it came at the first real meeting.

We met and it was so great because everyone came into the meeting with our own memories of past Homecomings and 4^th of July events that we wanted to bring back. The ideas were just going wild. At the end of meeting one we all had a huge list of things to work on.

The first year we had around 6-8 committee members and a successful Flagpole Festival under our belts. The second year we had 8-10 committee members and another successful Flagpole Festival. Each year new ideas and events are added and old events are tweeked.

We are now in our 7^th year of planning and have gotten some new members. New committee members bring new ideas! We love that! So again we have tweeked some of the events, moved things around, and added new things. We hope to see you all there! Bring your lawn chairs and settle in for lots of Mound Valley Fun!!
